Austin Public Health reported four additional flu-related deaths have occurred
since its report in December, putting the total number of fatalities in Travis County at seven.
Carole Barasch, communications manager for Austin Public Health, said the deaths have all involved patients over the age of 50.
Flu vaccines are still highly recommended for residents in Travis County. Other tips to stop the spread of the flu include washing your hands regularly and staying home if you are sick.
Vaccines are available at the two Austin Public Health clinics located at 405 W. Stassney Lane, Austin, and 7500 Blessing Ave., Austin. Vaccines are also available at local drug and grocery stores.
