Today, in partnership with Travis County, Central Health and CommUnityCare Health Centers opened a new clinic in Del Valle. In a recent press release Central Health stated health care services will be available Monday and Tuesdays from 8-a.m.-7 p.m. through CommUnityCare, which is funded by Central Health. Integral Care, a partner of Central Health, will also provide behavioral health services on Mondays. “With our partners CommUnityCare, Integral Care and Travis County, along with input from citizens, the Central Health team has brought an idea to reality,” said Mike Geeslin, Central Health president and CEO. “While health care is complicated, at the end of the day, it’s about being pragmatic and bringing as much basic care as possible to the places where people live and work. As Travis County changes, Central Health will deliver on the simple premise of serving people with low incomes by being in the right places offering the best possible care.” The opening of the new Del Valle Health Center is considered a necessary yet interim solution, the release said, with plans for a larger, permanent health center on an adjacent property underway in order to meet the anticipated growth in eastern Travis County. “In collaboration with our partners at Central Health, CommUnityCare is thrilled to be expanding its primary medical services within the Del Valle community,” CommUnityCare CEO Jaeson Fournier stated. “It takes these types of partnerships to ensure that Travis County’ growing population has access to the health-care service it needs to achieve improved wellbeing.” Travis County officials were excited to be part of the health care expansion in the eastern corridor of the county commenting on the benefits it will provide to families living in the area. “With the continued growth in eastern Travis County, the commissioners court wanted to make sure residents had access to the quality health care they need to get well and stay healthy,” County Judge Sarah Eckhardt and Commissioner Margaret Gomez, whose precinct covers Del Valle, said in a joint statement. “The new Del Valle Health Center will now be a cornerstone of the community and serve as a location where families can come together and receive the vital services and information they need in order to live healthy lives. While this health clinic is just a short-term solution, we look forward to the permanent facility that will be able to accommodate more residents with additional hours of service.”
