Businesses across South Austin are gathering donations for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts through various special offers and events. With efforts ranging from clothing and diaper drives to monetary donations, here are a few businesses in the area offering to help storm victims from Houston and the Texas coast.
- St. Elmo Brewing Company is donating $1 to the Houston Flood Relief Fund for every pint sold of its Rain Helles Lager. The business is also collecting food, clothing, diapers, toiletries, water and monetary donations. Donations will be accepted through Sept. 3.
- Austin Massage Company is donating $10 from each massage this week to help aid in the recovery of damage inflicted by Hurricane Harvey. The business has two locations in Austin.
- Twin Liquors Fine Wine & Spirits, a wine and spirits retailer, is hosting a flood relief campaign in support of those displaced or affected by Hurricane Harvey. Through Sept. 9, any of the Twin Liquors locations will accept monetary donations for the American Red Cross' flood relief efforts in Houston. The business will match customer contributions up to $20,000, a recent press release stated.
- Skout Deals, an South Austin-based mobile app company which helps locate deals at stores nationwide, has partnered with Austin Pets Alive! to assist in the care of animals affected or displaced by the storm. Through Sept. 9, for every user that downloads and registers on the free app, Skout Deals will contribute 25 cents to Austin Pets Alive!. The app is also being used to help connect evacuees with nearby citizens who may have items they can share or provide for free.
- Veracruz All Natural, a taco eatery with a truck at Radio Coffee & Beer, will donate 20 percent of its sales Sat., Sept. 2 to the Central Texas Food Bank to aid in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. All three locations will participate.
- Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will donate $1 for each movie ticket sold Sun., Sept. 3 to disaster relief projects. All Austin-area locations will participate.
- Treaty Oaks Brewing & Distilling will host a Labor Day weekend event Fri.-Mon. with live music, special cocktails and food offerings to benefit Hurricane Harvey victims. A percentage of the proceeds from the four-day event will be donated to the Central Texas Food Bank. Cash donations will be collected on-site. Donations of clothes and other supplies will also be accepted and given to the Hope Family Thrift Store.
