The city of Dripping Springs has officially decided to reopen its public Founders Pool June 29. The decision comes after city council listened to recommended pool policies at a city council meeting last month.

Founders Pool will have additional health and safety policies in place to guard against transmission of COVID-19.

“We know the importance of summer recreation when it comes to the mental and physical health of our community, so we are excited to open Founders Pool at the end of this month," Parks & Community Services Director Kelly Schmidt said in a press release from the city. "However, safety is our top concern, so we have created a swim session reservation system to ensure and support the current [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] recommendations and the health of our swimmers.”

Reservations for swim sessions will be available Monday-Sunday in one- or two-hour time blocks. Two one-hour, adult-only swim lap sessions will be available daily from 8:30-10:30 a.m, and two-hour family swim sessions will be available daily from 11a.m.-1 p.m., 1:30-3:30 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Maximum occupancy for family swim sessions is 25, and maximum occupancy for adult swim lap sessions is six. Admission is $4.70.

Patrons will see additional changes in effect, including a one-at-a-time bathroom policy and the requirement to bring their own beach chairs from home, if furniture is desired.
