The Austin Runners Club, a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that has served the Austin running community since 1974, donated $18,000 to youth running program Marathon Kids.

A check was presented to Marathon Kids at the Sunset Valley City Hall during the Feb. 1 City Council meeting. The ARC raised the funds at the Daisy Dash 5k and 10k held in fall 2021. Nearly 500 runners participated in the races. The events were part of the annual Distance Challenge, a six-race series leading up to the Austin Marathon.

Sponsor support and registration fees from Academy and Raising Cane’s allowed the ARC to make the donation to Marathon Kids.

“ARC put on one of the best Daisy Dashes yet, and Marathon Kids is so grateful to continue to be the beneficiary,” Marathon Kids CEO Cami Hawkins said at the Feb. 1 City Council meeting. “Our partnership with ARC continues to grow and we are excited about what the future holds.”
