Female-owned and family-operated Indian restaurant Natkhat Flavors officially opened Aug. 1 at 333 Hwy. 290, Ste. 437, Dripping Springs.

Popular items include chicken tikka masala, chicken Afghani, butter chicken and garlic naan. Vegan options, such as dal tarka, tofu masala and chana masala are also available.

What started as a way to care for their son eventually turned into a full-fledged business for Natkhat Flavors Owner Sakshi Joseph and her husband, Rajeev. Diagnosed with autism and seizure disorders as a baby, the Josephs' son was put on an altered diet by doctors. Joseph began incorporating the doctor's dietary instructions into her family recipes, offering her son authentic food that met his nutritional needs. The food garnered positive reviews from friends, family and acquaintances, which eventually motivated Joseph to develop the recipes into a business serving the Dripping Springs community.

Natkhat Flavors is primarily take-out and online preorder oriented. Delivery through applications, such as GrubHub and Favor, will be offered soon. In-person dining is available Saturdays from 5-7:30 p.m. through a partnership with Get Along Grill.
