The Austin Parks & Recreation Department announced this week that Big Stacy Pool will close from May 13-19 for its annual spring cleaning.

Big Stacy Pool, 700 E. Live Oak St., Austin, is a naturally heated, year-round pool that offers free swimming options.The 33-yard, six-lane pool offers a chair lift and a pool depth of 3.5 feet to 9 feet. Nearby amenities include a park, benches, covered showers and family restrooms.

Diving in deeper

Big Stacy Pool will be open from 6-10 a.m. on weekdays for lap swimming and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. for recreational swimming. On weekends, the pool is open from noon-7 p.m. for both recreational and lap swimming. Beginning June 5, hours of operation will change to 6-8 a.m. for lap swimming, 8-10 a.m. for swim teams, and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. for both recreational and lap swimming on the weekdays, and noon-7 p.m. on weekends for both recreational and lap swimming. It will also be open Memorial Day, May 29, from noon-7 p.m. The operating hours change again starting July 16-Aug. 13, when lap swimming will be available from 6-10 a.m. and recreational swimming from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekends for both recreational and lap swimming.
