The parade planned to kick off Dripping Springs Founders Day weekend April 28 at 6:30 p.m. has been canceled due to potential severe weather.

The decision was made by the city of Dripping Springs and Founders Day Festival Commission after meeting with Emergency Management Officials and the National Weather Service.

According to the National Weather Service, large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall may be possible this afternoon and evening as severe thunderstorms arrive along a cold front April 28.

If hail and lightning were to occur during the parade, there would not be sufficient shelter to keep participants and viewers safe, city officials stated in a press release.

The parade will not be rescheduled, but all other Founders Day activities will continue as planned including other activities for April 28, depending on weather.

Founders Day hours:
  • Friday, April 28: 4 p.m.-midnight (Parade at 6:30 p.m. canceled)
  • Saturday, April 29: 10 a.m.-midnight
  • Sunday, April 30: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. (Carnival ends at 7 p.m.)
