Election Day is May 6.
The board election
Incumbents Olivia Barnard and Tricia Quintero are seeking re-election as their terms end this year. Both Barnard and Quintero were elected in May 2022.
The third candidate, Ron Jones, previously served on the DSISD board from 2014-2022 and lost re-election in May 2023.
A fourth candidate, Omid Rezania, initially filed for election but withdrew his application.
Elections for board positions are held each May. Each year, two to three seats come up for re-election as terms are three years in length. The two candidates with the most votes win a seat on the board. Trustees are at-large representatives of the district.
The bond election
The district is also seeking voter approval of a $402.3 million bond package, separated into two separate propositions.
Proposition A, a $399.7 million bond, covers the following:
- Construction of a second high school
- Capital improvements and renovations for Dripping Springs High School and Rooster Springs Elementary
- Capital maintenance across district facilities
- Transportation projects, such as seat belts for buses, replacement of older buses and purchase of new buses to account for district growth
- Technology infrastructure and equipment
- Portable classrooms, or temporary buildings designed to increase classroom space
Proposition B includes $2.6 million for the following:
- Technology device upgrades for teachers, staff and students
- Interactive panels to be set up in classrooms.
