Families of students participating in Dripping Springs ISD’s after-school program, Kids Club, will see a $25 increase to the monthly tuition rate, approved by the board of trustees March 25.

Additionally, both before- and after-school programs will ask for half of the monthly rate of tuition for children enrolled in August, which previously came at no cost.

The overview

Kids Club and the before-school program, Club Crash, are run by the district’s community services department. These are tuition-based programs held at elementary schools within DSISD. Students must be enrolled in pre-K to fifth grade to attend.

The price increase comes amid staffing challenges the community services department is facing, which has pushed officials to limit the enrollment to the after-school program, according to district documents.

District employees will continue to receive the service at a discounted rate compared to community members.

The following are the changes to the program rates:
  • Kids Club monthly tuition raised by $25 for nonemployees
  • Kids Club addition of August tuition at $125 for nonemployees
  • Kids Club addition of August tuition at $35 for employees
  • Club Crash addition of August tuition at $42.50 for nonemployees
  • Club Crash addition of August tuition at $20 for employees
In case you missed it

District officials made changes to the program rates last year as well. The board of trustees approved an increase to both employee and nonemployee rates during a May 22 meeting.

The 2023-24 school year rates were increased from the 2022-23 year as follows:
  • Kids Club tuition raised by $45 for employees
  • Kids Club tuition raised by $25 for nonemployees
  • Club Crash tuition raised by $15 for employees
  • Registration fees raised by $25 for employees
Quote of note

“Our rates are incredible,” board member Kim Cousins said March 25. “I just hope that's an attractive offer when we're looking at employing people that have children that need that after-school care.”

What’s next?

The new rates will go into effect in August for the 2024-25 academic year.
