Located at 8600 Hwy. 290 W., Austin, at the intersection of Hwy. 290 and Circle Drive, the restaurant has been in the middle of the construction at Oak Hill for two years.
"The concurrent effects of construction and their interminability were the drivers of the decision," owner Lynn Metcalf told Community Impact on March 1.
The $674 million Oak Hill Parkway construction project broke ground in the summer of 2021 and is set to finish in 2026. Officials with TxDOT said an environmental impact statement showed the road had reached its traffic capacity in 1995.
The construction project plans to widen the roadway to 12 lanes near the Y at Oak Hill, where SH 71 and Hwy. 290 intersect.
"We celebrated our amazing run and are very proud of the work we have done," Metcalf said. "Every person on my staff told me it was the best job they had ever had, and I feel the same way."
