Tesla is planning a new South Austin showroom within The Yard at 500 E. St. Elmo Road, Austin, according to a permit filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Similar permits were filed with the city of Austin on Jan. 14.

According to the filing, Tesla will renovate the property for auto sales and vehicle services at an estimated renovation cost of $2.5 million. The 29,936-square-foot property is currently occupied by Music Lab Austin’s recording studio.

The filing estimates construction could begin on the project this June, and will take an estimated three months to complete.

Adan Novoa, who is listed as the tenant for the project, said he could not respond with additional details.
