After a successful trial run this weekend, the Dripping Springs Drive In-Cinema is set to open Sept. 2, with an opening week schedule that includes screenings of "Spider-Man: Homecoming," "Groundhog Day," "Back to the Future" and "Shrek."

Located north of downtown at 30291 RR 12, Dripping Springs, the new theater is co-owned by Brooke Bitter and Jeffrey Edward. Along with the movies, the duo is planning additional future entertainment including music-themed nights and preshow activities.

The new cinema will serve candy, popcorn and drinks during the films, Edwards said.

Also, 2% of proceeds will go to a local nonprofit organization each month, which will be featured on the business’s blog, he said.

The business’s website, www.drippingspringsdrivein.com, will officially launch Sept. 1.
