Travis County has averaged 248 new coronavirus cases per day over the past week, a trend that continued Aug. 2 with 247 new confirmations, according to Austin Public Health.

Since July 27, the county has not seen more than 280 new cases in a single day, and last topped 300 new cases July 22.

New hospitalizations in the Austin metropolitan area have also continued to decline, with 36.3 new admissions per day over the past seven days, according to Austin Public Health. That seven-day average is 24.3 lower than last Sunday, July 22.

Overall in Travis County, there have been 21,214 coronavirus cases since mid-March, when the pandemic began, as well as 279 total coronavirus-related deaths. An estimated 18,875 individuals have recovered locally, while 307 are currently hospitalized.
