Austin Public Health began reporting calculated coronavirus recoveries on June 4 using a method consistent with the Texas Department of State Health Services that estimates recoveries based on time since a case was confirmed.
Under the new calculation, Travis County is estimating a total of 2,917 recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic March 13.
The county had previously only reported recoveries based on official confirmation from former patients who were reached by health officials. The previous calculation of recoveries on June 3 was 1,380.
Austin Public Health also reported a 61 case increase June 4, bringing the total confirmed coronavirus cases in the county to 3,562. There have been 95 coronavirus deaths in the county.
Active hospitalizations in the Austin metropolitan area stand at 91.
