Ascension Texas has selected Adam Messer to be the next president of Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas.

The announcement was made on Jan. 19 and said Messer assumed the role effective immediately.

"We welcome Adam to our ministry and look forward to his contributions to our ongoing efforts to provide safe, high-quality, compassionate and personalized care to all, especially those most in need,” said Andy Davis, senior vice president of Ascension and ministry market executive of Ascension Texas.

Ann Howser, senior public relations specialist for Ascension Texas, said Messer will oversee operational and financial accountability of the hospital including operational effectiveness and performance, growth and strategic development, as well as strengthening community partnerships.

Messer comes to Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was an enterprise vice president and service line executive. There, he helped to oversee the strategy and operations of clinical services lines for a large academic medical center and a health system comprising 18 hospitals and providing more than 2.5 million outpatient visits, Howser said.

"My family is thrilled to call Austin our new home, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this community with commitment and purpose in my new role with Ascension Texas," Messer told Community Impact. "The collaboration between Ascension Seton and The University of Texas at Austin is bringing world-class talent and care to Central Texas and beyond. I wanted to be part of something special and unique, and I have found that here in Austin at Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas."
