Martial arts school Next Gen Mu Sool opened its new location Aug. 2 in Tanglewood Village at 2110 W. Slaughter Lane, Austin.

Wife and husband Meghan and Ricky Garcia run the school, which opened in October 2010. After closing the doors of the old space during the pandemic, Meghan Garcia said it was a blessing that their lease ran out last summer because they did not have to pay rent on an unused space.

The school operated without a physical location starting in August 2020 while the couple taught virtual classes from a makeshift studio at their home during the pandemic.

At the new location, the Garcias will be teaching 70 students, who will be required to wear masks and get temperature checks before entering the school. One of the Garcias will teach almost every class, though they hire additional instructors.
