What you need to know
The updated costs are due to increasing passenger traffic and the rising demand for on-airport parking options, according to a news release from ABIA.
- Blue Garage daily rate is changing from $23 to $26.
- Red Garage daily rate is changing from $32 to $35.
- Red Garage hourly rate is changing from $5 to $7.
The changes are expected to help manage capacity, while the increased parking revenue will also be used toward ongoing airport improvement projects, the release states.
The economy parking lot rates will remain unchanged; however, the Economy Lot B parking closed in March to make way for work on new airport structures intended to also address capacity.
In case you missed it
Airport officials broke ground earlier this year on a new parking garage that will add 7,000 spaces—more than double the 3,241 spaces in the existing Red Garage, according to an airport spokesperson.
The 2.5 million-square-foot Yellow Garage will feature dedicated entrance and exit ramps for quick access, and a red-and-green light system to easily spot open spaces, according to airport documents.
The milestone joins the the parade of projects coming online for the airport's sweeping multimillion-dollar expansion.

The takeaways
“We're not just building a bigger airport, we're building a gateway that would connect Austin to the world,” ABIA CEO Ghizlane Badawi said during a fall 2024 project launch.
While the Yellow Garage is under construction, the existing Blue and Red Garages will continue to serve travelers with amenities aimed at making parking more convenient:
- The Blue and Red Garages offer parking close to the terminal and include several features for travelers.
- Drivers can reserve a spot up to 24 hours in advance.
- Both garages provide free roadside assistance for issues like flat tires or dead batteries.
- Both garages have enhanced security measures, including 24-hour camera surveillance, regular patrols and support from Austin police.
