The Texas State Troopers Foundation, a nonprofit organization established by the Texas State Troopers Association, officially launched this year with the goal of raising $1 million in its first year, according to the release.

Per the release, the foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance, educational scholarships, survivor benefits and other resources to both active and retired DPS officers and employees across the state.
“Our DPS employees and their families make incredible sacrifices every day in service to Texas,” Rohnnie Shaw, chairman of TSTF, said via release. “The Texas State Troopers Foundation is our way of honoring their commitment by providing real, tangible support when they need it most, whether they are facing unexpected hardships, pursuing educational goals or seeking wellness resources.”
Diving in deeper
TSTF will be funded through charitable donations, corporate partnerships and fundraising events, and invites businesses, community leaders and citizens to join their cause, per the release. All donations to the foundation are tax-deductible.
According to the release, the foundation supports:
- Financial assistance for officers and families during emergencies or hardships
- Educational scholarships for children of Texas State Troopers, DPS employees and employees
- Community engagement and outreach initiatives to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and communities
