More than 20 candidates are running for Austin mayor and five City Council positions this year.
The overview
Four sitting city officials will be looking to hold their seats at City Hall, while two open races in North and West Austin will bring new faces to the council dais next year.
In addition to the six council contests, voters citywide will consider 13 civic propositions on the November election ballot. A small number of South Austin voters will also be deciding whether to release a strip of properties along Menchaca Road from the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction.
Eligible city residents have until Oct. 7 to register to vote. Early voting will run from Oct. 21-Nov. 1.
Candidates now have just over two months left in their campaigns before Election Day on Nov. 5. Following the Aug. 19 filing deadline, the ballot order for council races was randomly set Aug. 20:
