Several events in the Austin-area will celebrate Juneteenth with festivals, parades, markets and cook-offs. This is not a comprehensive list.

Austin

Stay Black and Live: Juneteenth Community Cookout and Music Festival

The event will take place behind the Carver Museum, and will include live DJs, barbecue, games and workshops. The music festival will begin at 4 p.m. and feature Tameca Jones and Chalie Boy.Central Texas Juneteenth

The Austin Public Library will host a discussion of “The Color of Law” by Richard Rothstein and a screening of the film “Segregated By Design” by Mark Lopez at the Windsor Park Branch. Lopez will be in attendance, and staff will lead the attendees in a discussion about the content and context. Attendees are still encouraged to come even if they have not read the book. Bastrop Juneteenth Cultural Festival


The festival kicks off with a parade at 10 a.m. in downtown Bastrop, and celebrations continue all day long with food, live music and games at Fisherman’s Park.Georgetown

With a “boots and buckles" theme, the event will include horse rides, line dancing and an appearance from Oliver the Watusi. The event will also feature live music, food vendors and market vendors.Leander

Juneteenth Block Party

The Leander Public Arts and Culture Commission and the City of Leander will host their Juneteenth Block Party with the theme “Still We Rise: Strength, Spirit and Solidarity.” The event will feature music from Soulful Soundz Party Band, a basketball tournament, bounce houses, craft vendors, food trucks and a swimming pool. There will also be line dancing, performances from the Fame Dance Academy and a spoken word showcase from Carsenio Salvia Louise.

Juneteenth Celebration: Rock the Block

The Petterson Brothers will perform in Downtown Pflugerville for a Juneteenth celebration. The event is free and attendees are permitted to bring dogs, lawn chairs and blankets..Round Rock

Juneteenth Festival

The 19th annual event will have appearances from Mayor Craig Morgan, the Round Rock City Council, and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Omicron Nu Nu Chapter, who will present scholarship winners at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature music from DJ Dat Boi Play and musicians Melanie Fiona, Kid Capri and Sean Ardoin.San Marcos


Parade and Unity Walk


Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Juneteenth as a community. The event will begin with a parade at 9 a.m. at Cross Roads Memorial and end at the historic Dunbar Park.

BBQ Cookoff Charity Fundraiser

The annual event, hosted by Juneteenth Foundation Inc., will feature categories such as youth pork chops, chicken, fajitas, margaritas and more. Registration for cooks is closed, but the event is open to the public. Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. Additional entertainment includes a domino tournament, crafts and music by DJ Julius.
