Texas Construction Career Pathways, a program run by Texas Climate Jobs Project, is offering a free three-week readiness apprenticeship program to Travis County residents that trains individuals in the construction industry and prepares them to join the workforce within unionized building and construction trades.

The details:

Those interested may register for a free informational session Jan. 22 from 7-8 p.m. During the event, attendees will:
  • Discover what the program offers and how it prepares participants for apprenticeship opportunities in various construction trades
  • Learn about the application process, eligibility requirements and upcoming program dates
  • Meet representatives from local unions and industry partners
Individuals will also hear from graduates, including local roofers, electricians, plumbers and other trade professionals about their experiences and career journeys.

The organization is looking for candidates 18 years and older that reside in Travis County, among other eligibility requirements.

Additionally, the program provides several stipends based on eligibility:
  • Cell phone allowance: $80
  • Child care assistance: $700
  • Transportation reimbursement: $300
  • Program completion bonus: $1,500
