Celebrating Juneteenth in Georgetown

There are several events to check out for Georgetown’s 72nd annual Juneteenth celebration. The two-day event kicks off with live music by Austin band Mega’Tune and The Soul at City Center on Friday. Saturday will bring a Juneteenth parade, a historical photo exhibit, a program with a keynote speaker and musical performance. The festival will have a DJ, kids’ activities, food and vendor booths, and more.

Round Rock

Round Rock Juneteenth Festival


The festivities begin with a barbecue taste-off and live music on Friday followed by more food and performances on Saturday. Parking on Saturday is $10 with cash only.Austin

Central Texas Juneteenth

Join the George Washington Carver Museum and Carver ATX Foundation for a celebration of Black culture, history and resilience. Bastrop

Bastrop Juneteenth Freedom Celebration

A Juneteenth celebration will take place in downtown Bastrop beginning with a parade down historic Main Street highlighting the participant's organizations. Different categories will be represented to celebrate African American culture in the community, according to the event’s website. Following the parade, festivities will continue with a festival at Fisherman’s Park at 11 a.m. and a street dance beginning at 7 p.m.San Marcos/Buda


Juneteenth: 'Journey to Jubilee'


The Buda Juneteenth Committee and the city of Buda will host the annual Juneteenth celebration with music, dancing and food. This year’s theme, “Journey to Jubilee,” recognizes the past and looks forward to a brighter future, organizer Kimberly Iglesias said. The Juneteenth celebration will lead into the city’s Summer Concert Series later in the evening.

Why We Celebrate Juneteenth ... Children's Style

The San Marcos Public Library and Dunbar Heritage Association will host this event to teach kids in grades kindergarten and up about the significance of Juneteenth.30th Annual Juneteenth Charity BBQ Cook-Off

The best community barbecue cooks will show off their skills at this event. Categories include margaritas, youth pork chops, beef or chicken fajitas, and beans. There will also be kids’ activities and a food drive benefitting the Hays County Food Bank.

The fourth annual Juneteenth Unity Walk will line up at the corner of LBJ and Martin Luther King drives, and conclude at the Willie Mae Mitchell Community Opportunity Center.
