About 100 acres of land in South Austin covering a developing entertainment district along Menchaca Road will be released from the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ, based on unofficial election results.

Travis County Prop A, affordable child care passes with majority of vote in 2024 election, unofficial results show

The majority of Travis County voters showed support for a tax rate increase that would support additional affordable child care opportunities for families throughout Travis County. Unofficial election results indicate Prop A finished with 59.43% of votes for and 40.57% against, or 321,043 votes to 219,141 respectively.

Buckle up Austinites: TxDOT breaks ground on next decade of construction along I-35

TxDOT broke ground on its I-35 Capital Express Central project Oct. 30, which falls under the over 800,000 miles of roadway maintained by the agency statewide. The project will add two nontolled high-occupancy-vehicle, or HOV, lanes stretching roughly 8 miles from Hwy. 290 down to Hwy. 71.
