Eduardo Ramos, Austin ISD’s chief financial officer, returned from administrative leave Aug. 15. Ramos was placed on leave July 31, following his arrest by Austin ISD police the same day.

AISD officials said they received a letter from the District Attorney of Williamson County’s Office indicating that Ramos would not be prosecuted with the charges.

Ramos already resigned from his position prior to the arrest, and his last official day in the role is Aug. 16. He will now part from the district in "good standing," after serving for three years, according to a news release from AISD officials.

The background

Ramos was booked in Travis County July 31 and released on a surety bond Aug. 1, according to officials with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. Round Rock police issued a warrant for his arrest, officials with the department confirmed, and AISD police executed the arrest.

Going forward

AISD Superintendent Matias Segura named Katrina Montgomery, AISD assistant superintendent of finance, as interim CFO early August. Montgomery has served for three years as the assistant superintendent of finance.

Quote of note

"We wish him well in his future endeavors," AISD officials wrote in a news release.
