A French-American restaurant is now open in downtown Austin, in the AMLI building, helmed by Guy and Larry Restaurants along with chef and proprietor Harold Marmulstein.

The restaurant was designed by Janet Henrich and reflects "a balance of French sophistication and contemporary warmth," according to the release.

Bar Rouge is adjacent to the main dining room and is a cocktail bar inspired by Marmulstein’s late wife, Judi.


Signature cocktails include:
  • A Free Man in Paris with Roku Japanese Gin, Lillet Blanc, St-Germain Elderflower and St. George Absinthe
  • Moulin à Passion with Grey Goose Vodka, Chinola Passionfruit, Licor 43, Demerera and Champagne

“Our goal was to create a space where French technique and modern American flavors come together,” Marmulstein said in a news release. “We’re using familiar ingredients but approaching them with the precision and care of French cooking.”
