Houston-based restaurateur Chris Perry, founder of Perry's Steakhouse and Carve American Grille, started new dining concept Verdad True Modern Mexican in late 2023 at The Grove.

The menu

Open for dinner service, Verdad features an array of options from pinto bean hummus to hamachi ceviche, smoked steak relleno, garlic shrimp fideo and more.

Signature dishes include Oaxaca filet with cherry mole, seared sea scallops with huitlacoche caviar, pork spare rib barbacoa, salmon segueza, and many others.

A Fiesta Board is also available and serves a group of four. The board provides guests with a range of signature dishes, including prime steak fajitas, free-range chicken fajitas, salmon, pork spare ribs, jumbo garlic shrimp, lobster quesadilla wedges, grilled Blue Point oysters and crispy octopus, and zucchini and corn fritter balls served with tamarind, amarillo and cherry moles alongside heirloom blue and white masa corn tortillas.


A rotation of off-menu items is also available, including dishes like the Tequila Lime Salad, with butternut squash, avocado, corn, toasted pine nuts, pickled red onions and Cotija cheese served with a tequila lime vinaigrette.

Looking for libations?

The drink menu at Verdad offers handcrafted signature cocktails, such as the Margarita Al Centro, which is infused with housemade sorbete in a variety of flavors.

Other cocktails include The Reserve MexiCal made with mezcal and topped with Perry's Reserve Cabernet, and the Loco Carajillo made with tequila, Licor 43 and Nixta Licor de Elote.

Hora feliz, or happy hour, is available 4-6:30 p.m. daily and features $2 off starters, glasses of wine, cocktails and beers, according to a news release.
