New charter school The Texas Girls School to open in Leander, Cedar Park area

The Texas Girls School, a new secondary charter school, is set to open to students in the Leander and Cedar Park area next fall. The school will welcome around 120 sixth through ninth grade girls in its first year and expand to serve grades 10th-12th, founder and Superintendent Dana Stuart said.

Hutto to reduce speed limit on Hwy. 79


The speed limit on a section of Hwy. 79 in Hutto will now be a consistent 45 mph. Hutto City Council voted to approve the speed limit after receiving directive from the Texas Department of Transportation.

H-E-B launches tap-to-pay service throughout Texas

H-E-B is launching tap-to-pay services across all its Texas stores, allowing customers to make quick, contactless payments using digital wallets like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay. Starting on Oct. 7, H-E-B will roll out tap-to-pay technology across Texas, beginning with stores in the San Antonio area, according to a news release from the grocery store.

‘Second-largest project’ in WilCo’s road bond history underway

Segment two of East WilCo Highway is now under construction following a groundbreaking on Oct. 3.The segment will connect CR 137 to FM 3349, at CR 404 in Hutto, and add a new roadway with one road in each direction, a center turn lane and a sidewalk.
