Toasty Badger, a new throwback diner, opened its doors on South Congress Avenue in late January.

The '70s-themed neighborhood eatery from Lobos Hospitality serves classic American diner fare inspired by the team's family recipes.

"A couple of us come from small towns where a sense of community was extremely important," Lobos Chief Commercial Officer Jason Ellefson said in a statement. "We all have fond memories of eating with our families in our hometown diners and wanted to recreate that experience for the Austin community."

Menu offerings include breakfast staples, such as French toast, pancakes, omelets and eggs Benedict, as well as sandwiches, salads, sides and desserts. Fresh-squeezed juices, coffee, tea, cocktails, wine and beer round out the menu.

"Toasty Badger is special because it places emphasis on a homey, comfy experience rather than one of fine dining," Chief Operating Officer Eric Kemp said. "It’s a place where anyone can grab a seat, order a delicious meal, and return to a place of elegant simplicity."

The restaurant is currently open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with plans to extend hours for all-day dining in the near future.

Toasty Badger is one of three Lobos concepts planned around Austin; downtown eatery Manny's and the speakeasy Powder Room will be opening soon.
