San Marcos CISD canceled classes and will close campuses and offices Feb. 3-4 due to anticipated inclement weather that will bring freezing temperatures and potential icing on roadways that could cause unsafe conditions.

In a letter to parents Feb. 2, the district said classes will resume Feb. 7.

The National Weather Service of Austin-San Antonio issued an updated winter storm warning at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 stating that ice accumulations due to precipitation just before freezing temperatures roll in could be as high as 0.25 inches.

“Precipitation will start ahead of the front and will be rain, but will transition to freezing rain or sleet in areas that fall below freezing early Thursday morning,” the NWS stated in the warning.
