San Marcos moves to lower speed limit in Wallace Addition neighborhood
San Marcos City Council approved on the first of two readings to reduce the speed limit from 30 miles per hour to 25 mph on portions of multiple roads in the Wallace Addition neighborhood at their April 15 meeting. The council also authorized the installation of signs and traffic devices to reflect the change.
The proposal follows a Jan. 27 neighborhood meeting attended by the Public Works Department, during which residents voiced concerns about speeding.

Buda completes interim Main Street fix to ease traffic congestion
An interim solution to address congestion on Main Street in Buda is now complete, according to Public Information Officer Michelle Henley, offering drivers some relief.
The East Main Street Expansion, part of an $89.66 million bond package approved by Buda voters in 2021 to improve transportation and park infrastructure, was funded for design but not construction, which is currently unaffordable and not covered by the bond, prompting the need for an interim fix.
The completed interim project widened Main Street and added a dedicated right-turn lane from westbound Main Street onto northbound I-35 frontage road.

Kyle City Council explores fixes for traffic concerns at Dacy Lane, Downing Way
Concerns over safety at a busy Kyle intersection have prompted city officials to explore solutions.
Following the City Council’s direction for the city manager to evaluate options and provide recommendations, council received an update on proposed traffic safety improvements at the intersection of Dacy Lane and Downing Way during its April 15 meeting.
The intersection has seen 21 crashes over the past five years, according to the city’s presentation, with six occurring in 2024 alone.
