The Texas Department of Transportation announced May 30 that a portion of the northbound frontage road in San Marcos will be closed starting May 31 at 5 a.m. through August, weather permitting. The road closure is part of TxDOT's Mobility35 I-35 at Hwy. 123 project.

The I-35 at Hwy. 123 project will reconstruct and improve lanes and bridges over Hwy. 123, reverse and relocate entrance and exit ramps, and more.

The frontage road will be closed from Flores Street to River Road, right before Exit 205; drivers can take the detour onto I-35.The road will be closed so crews can demolish and reconstruct the Willow Springs Creek and San Marcos River bridges, Bradley Wheelis, TxDOT public information officer, told Community Impact Newspaper in an email.
