Crews from the San Marcos, Kyle and North Hays fire departments as well as local emergency medical services crews responded to a fire at 900 Morningwood Drive, San Marcos, on May 20, according to a press release from Hays County.

The fire was contained after four hours of burning that scorched about 5 acres, according to Hays County Fire Marshal Mark Wobus.

“The Morningwood incident began as a structure fire, but the blaze jumped to a neighboring property behind the outbuilding,” Wobus said in the release. “There were no homes or other structures directly behind the location where the fire began.”

There were no injuries, and no other structures were affected.

This is one of multiple fires that have happened throughout Hays County in recent months.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Community Impact Newspaper will update the story as it develops.
