Officials with the Greater San Marcos Partnership have a new leader at the helm.

Mike Kamerlander has been named the new president and CEO of GSMP and will fill the spot vacated by former CEO Jason Giulietti this spring.

The backstory

Kamerlander is no stranger to the work of the GSMP, having previously served as vice president. He most recently was the director of economic development at Lockhart Economic Development.

“Having spent my entire career in the Austin-San Antonio corridor and six years with GSMP directly, I’m thrilled to get to work in this new role continuing the organization’s important mission to improve the economies of Hays and Caldwell counties,” Kamerlander said. “I have incredible gratitude for the board’s support in me, and I look forward to working with them and the regional economic development organizations that make this part of Texas the best for business.”

Kamerlander begins the job Nov. 15.

Why it matters

As a regional nonprofit organization, the GSMP works with municipalities, chambers of commerce and other institutions in Hays and Caldwell counties to market and promote the region to attract new employers, assist growth of existing businesses and assist in workforce development in what they call the “Texas Innovation Corridor,” among other endeavors.

“Mike is the right leader for the GSMP,” said Gene Bourgeois, chair of the board for GSMP. “Mike’s background and business development skills will help strengthen partnerships, develop strategic alliances and expand our presence as a regional economic development organization.”
