A large mural celebrating diversity has been unveiled in downtown San Marcos at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and LBJ Drive on a prominent brick wall of the Crossroads Building.

Located at 110 E. Martin Luther King Drive, the mural was created by local artist Robert Jones and depicts a group of several people of different races and ethnicities.

A press release from the Downtown Association of San Marcos stated the project was a collaboration with the Dunbar Heritage Association, Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos and the Indigenous Cultures Institute to bring a new diversity mural to downtown San Marcos.

"Jones's expansive work ... will celebrate all the cultures that make San Marcos an inclusive, welcoming community," the release stated. "Mark Shields, the building owner, has been a strong supporter of the project and welcomes this mural on his site."

A dedication ceremony for the mural took place at the site Jan. 16 at 10 a.m.
