The Texas Education Agency released statewide accountability ratings Wednesday morning, for the first time using a new A-F system for rating overall school districts.

Hays CISD earned an overall grade of C, with Cs in each of the individual categories of Student Achievement, Relative Performance and Closing the Gaps; the district was awarded a B in the category of Academic Growth.

Individual schools continued to be assessed on the scale of Met Standard, Met Alternative Standard, Not Rated or Improvement Required ratings.

All schools in the district were rated as Met Standard, except for Tom Green Elementary School, which was rated Improvement Required; Live Oak Academy was rated Met Alternative Standard.

Next year, both districts and schools will be rated on an A-F scale.
