In a letter June 9, CEO of
Simply Mac Rein Voigt announced that the company has filed for bankruptcy, citing financial strain following the COVID-19 pandemic. Simply Mac was an Apple retailer, licensed to sell and repair Apple products.
"We were able to survive that initial blow [of the pandemic] with the help of $5.1 million in PPP loans from the government," Voigt wrote in the statement. "Although we had hopes that new funding would materialize over the past few months, it never did."
All stores, including the San Marcos store at 200 Springtown Way, Ste. 122, have shut down, and all employees have been let go.
Voigt added that the company will be unable to complete payroll obligations to its employees and they will be able to file a claim with a bankruptcy court in due time.
