Paloma Montessori School is an educational child care facility located at 125 W. McCarty Lane, San Marcos, projected to open Aug. 31.

The child care facility will provide services for children 18 months through 6 years of age. The facility will focus on education through hands-on lessons that embody Maria Montessori’s revolutionary approach, according to the owner.

The Montessori approach focuses on creating a calm and focused environment for children by setting natural lighting, soft colors and uncluttered spaces for activities.

In addition, learning materials are displayed on accessible shelves to foster independence as students go about their work.

Children who are 18 months to 3 years of age will strengthen language skills; improve motor skills; develop independence; practice social skills; and explore music, art and literature, according to the facility’s website. Children who are ages 3-6 will learn problem solving and academic foundation. Paloma Montessori School will feature a garden and a playground area.
