The latest monthly Housing Market Report from the Austin Board of Realtors shows that in the month of September, the median price for single-family homes in Hays County increased 5.2%, to $269,950, when compared to the same month last year. In the city of Buda alone, the median price for a single-family home in September increased 9.3% year-over-year to $310,000. Despite the higher median price for homes, the county saw a 9.7% increase in single-family home sales in September over the same period last year, according to ABoR. Homes are also selling faster, with average number of days a home in Hays County sat on the market in September decreasing 17% when compared to the same month last year, while the total number of closed sales rose 10%—to a total of 329 over the course of the month. The total sales dollar volume in Hays County was $107.16 million in September, a 6.3% increase over September 2018, while pending sales were up 29.3%.
