New housing construction continues in San Marcos, Buda and Kyle.

The latest monthly Housing Market Report from the Austin Board of Realtors shows that in the month of September, the median price for single-family homes in Hays County increased 5.2%, to $269,950, when compared to the same month last year.

In the city of Buda alone, the median price for a single-family home in September increased 9.3% year-over-year to $310,000. Despite the higher median price for homes, the county saw a 9.7% increase in single-family home sales in September over the same period last year, according to ABoR.

Homes are also selling faster, with average number of days a home in Hays County sat on the market in September decreasing 17% when compared to the same month last year, while the total number of closed sales rose 10%—to a total of 329 over the course of the month.

The total sales dollar volume in Hays County was $107.16 million in September, a 6.3% increase over September 2018, while pending sales were up 29.3%.
