Kyle's Parks and Recreation Department offices could be expanding.

On Oct. 2, Kyle City Council directed City Manager Bryan Langley to execute all necessary documents for the purchase of properties located at 208 and 246 Republic Drive.

The properties—totaling about $3.78 million, would house the city's parks and recreation department—which is currently located at 700 Lehman Road, Kyle.

The details

Langley said the department's current space is too overcrowded.

"This is an opportunity for us to have both programming space and room for offices as well as for our staff," Langley told Community Impact.

If the contract is approved, one of the two buildings will be for recreation administration—housing up to 14 parks and recreation staff members. The other building will be for beautification services—housing up to 22 team members—and will provide space for equipment and other inventory, according to agenda documents.

What's next?

The city hopes to close on the properties in November.
