Construction for Garison Park—located north of downtown Buda, along Onion Creek—is anticipated to begin in 2025, Mayor Lee Urbanovsky said during the State of the City on Sept. 11.

The park will serve as a “critical link” in Buda’s green network, by connecting Bradfield Village, Stagecoach Park and City Park, according to the John D. and Byrd Mims Garison Memorial Park Master Plan.

The details

The park land, which was formerly owned by the McCaughan family, is being funded through the 2021 Buda Bond and Hays County’s 2020 Parks and Open Spaces Bond.
There will be multiple park amenities, including a swimming area and natural play areas. There will also be prairie restoration and space for fishing, canoeing or kayaking, according to the presentation.
