That’s according to an unanimous vote by City Council Dec. 19 to postpone consideration of the plan, titled Vision SMTX Plus Plus.
The backstory
As previously reported by Community Impact, San Marcos City Council was originally poised to pass the plan on Nov. 6, but postponed the plan to form an outreach committee, with plans to bring it back before council on Jan. 16.
That committee met in December and decided to plan more outreach, according to city documents.
“So right now what the public believes is that there will be a [comprehensive] plan second reading, and that has been tabled until Jan. 16,” City Manager Stephanie Reyes said. “The council committee just met about the outreach plan and next steps ... on Monday of last week, and so there is going to be more suggested outreach; there's going to be a report that's going to be given, and we wanted to do that on Jan. 16,” Reyes said.
Looking ahead
That meeting will now involve discussion of the committee’s report, rather than adopting the comprehensive plan at that time.
