The wildfire in Buda has been 100% contained, according to an update from Hays County.

In total, the fire grew to 28 acres.

Another wildfire is raging on amid excessive heat warnings, burn bans and increasing water restrictions in Buda. Officials with the Hays County Office of Emergency Management announced at 12:20 p.m. that there is a fire in the area near Robert S. Light Boulevard, FM 1626 and FM 2770.

FM 2770 is closed from Smith Lane onward.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Buda Director of Communications LaMarriol Smith.

Fire authorities have asked Pedernales Electric Cooperative to shut down certain lines, which may cause some power outages.


As of 1:21 p.m., the fire is at 10 acres with 50% containment.

The fire is not expected to impact schools in the surrounding areas.
