The city of Buda is one step closer to realizing the $16.09 million parks and recreation bond approved by voters in late 2021 with the launch of its virtual showcase. The parks and recreation bond was the second of two propositions on the ballot that November, with an additional $73.57 million going toward transportation projects.

The parks and recreation bond, also known as Proposition B, is broken down as follows:
  • $8 million for Eastside Park land acquisition
  • $6 million for Garison Park Phase 1
  • $607,500 for City Park improvements
  • $553,500 for the Onion Creek Trail
  • $445,500 for the Garlic Creek Trail Phase 2
  • $283,500 for Green Meadows Park and Stoneridge
  • $200,000 for administrative costs
The bonds virtual showcase provides an overview of the bond package, the projects and where each stands.

The City Park improvements, Garison Park Phase 1, Garlic Creek Trail Phase 2 and Onion Creek Trail projects are in the preliminary design phase; The only projects in the construction phase right now are the Green Meadows and Stoneridge Park improvements.

The showcase also features a nearly 10-minute video going over the Garison Park project and its design plan with details and renderings.

Residents and the community are invited to provide comments and feedback on the current updates of the bond and the Garison Park preliminary showcase now through Aug. 4.
