Buda City Council passed a motion to enter an agreement with Ten Eyck Landscape Architects in the development of Garison Memorial Park.

The motion authorizes the city manager to execute the 2021 bond program professional services agreement for Phase 1 of the Garison Memorial Park Development, which is not to exceed $1.5 million.

According to the city of Buda, dialogue for the concept development for Garison Park began in 2016 and has not changed in concept since 2018 when several amenities were stricken from the requirements by the Parks Commission. In June 2021, the city of Buda sought a request for statements of qualifications from design firms and received 12 submittals.

The firm that appeared to provide the best value for Buda was Ten Eyck in September 2021, according to city documents.

The project manager for Garison Memorial Park, Kenneth Crawford, said Ten Eyck and city staff will focus on the beginning stages of Phase 1 of the project.

"The initial phase is what can we do, what's in the realm of feasible, achievable and sustainable in our environment,” Crawford said. “So we have a vision as a city and as an outdoor capital.”

Stephanie Saulmon, senior associate and landscape architect for Ten Eyck, said Garison Memorial Park will be something that people can enjoy for generations to come.

“We're so honored to be considered for this incredible project that we really feel will complete this necklace of green open spaces that you've already established here in Buda, and we really feel that Garison Park will truly be a legacy project for generations to come,” Saulmon said.
