After a two-month search, the city of San Marcos selected Jonathan Locke as the city’s new director of finance and chief financial officer.

Locke will start on the job Aug. 1, according to a press release. He was selected from a pool of 15 candidates for the position.

“We are super excited Jonathan is joining our city team,” Interim City Manager Stephanie Reyes said. “He will bring his strong financial management expertise and experience to our finance department. We’re confident he’ll be a strong asset to the city and community as a whole.”

According to the release, Locke has nearly two decades of experience in city finance, most recently as the executive director of finance for Killeen for a seven-year period and as treasurer for the city of Big Rapids, Michigan, among other positions.

Locke obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration, both from Franklin University in Ohio. He is also licensed as a certified public accountant and certified government finance officer.

“I am excited to be part of such a growing, dynamic and diverse community,” Locke said in the release. “I am honored to join an incredible team and serve the residents of San Marcos.”
