The city of Buda announced March 15 applications are being accepted for Human Services Funding for projects and programs addressing a variety of community needs, from arts and culture to recreation and animal-related services.

Funding requests must come from tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations, according to a press release.

The city accepts applications for programs or projects that are likely to effect the quality of life of a significant portion of the community; address issues or problems the city’s governmental entities do not; propose practical solutions to community issues or problems; and are sustainable over time, among other things, according to the release.

The city will not grant funding to pay for services of a fiscal agent, endowment funds, religious organizations or purposes, fundraising, political lobbying or legislative activities, or individuals, the press release said. If approved for funding, the applicant will receive funds quarterly and will be expected to make presentations at City Council meetings.

“Grant applications will be screened by a review committee, and the applicants should be prepared to make presentations to the Buda City Council,” City Clerk Alicia Ramirez said in the press release. “I encourage individuals, groups or organizations who are seeking this funding to review the requirements and restrictions thoroughly before submitting a proposal."

The application deadline is June 1 at 5 p.m. For more information, visit the city of Buda website.
