The city of San Marcos is collecting comments on its preferred scenario map, a component of the Vision SMTX comprehensive plan that is meant to be a guideline for how the city will approach future growth.

“One of the key components of Vision SMTX is to develop a citywide plan for how to best manage our future projected growth and meet the goals that are most important to our community,” said Andrea Villalobos, planning manager for San Marcos, in a press release. “We invite everyone to participate in reviewing the draft map so that we can best plan for current and future generations so that all can live, work and play in San Marcos.”

The draft preferred scenario map outlines projected population increases in San Marcos as well as the amount of acreage and resources needed depending on low or high density development to accommodate that growth.

A take-home tool kit of the comment map is also available from the planning and development services department. Copies can be ordered by emailing [email protected], calling 512-393-8230 or visiting the office at 630 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos.

The city will host a pop-up input booth March 19 at the San Marcos Farmers Market, 111 E. San Antonio St., from 9 a.m.-noon, as well as a virtual presentation of the draft map April 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. via a link available at www.visionsmtx.com.

The online comment survey is available through April 10 and can be found at https://arcg.is/1fe5KS.
