With all Hays County polling locations reporting, incumbent Ruben Becerra has won the Democratic primary for county judge with 68.12% of the vote, or 8,247 votes, from 12,370 total votes.

Michelle Gutierrez Cohen and Linda Aguilar Hawkins will head to a runoff election for the Democratic Precinct Commissioner 2 seat as neither surpassed 50% of the vote. Cohen garnered 41.03% of the vote while Hawkins reached 36.94% of the vote.

While Mike Gonzalez won the Republican Precinct 2 commissioner primary with 61.04% of the vote, or 1,128 votes.


Incumbent Walt Smith won the race for Republican Precinct 4 commissioner primary with 56.04% of the vote, or 2,576.

With 35 out of 40 Hays County polling locations reporting in the Democratic county judge race, incumbent Ruben Becerra maintains his lead with 68.30% of the vote. Brandon Burleson remains behind at 31.70% of the vote.

Michelle Gutierrez Cohen maintains her lead in the Democratic Precinct Commissioner 2 race while Mike Gonzalez remains ahead in the Republican Precinct Commissioner 2 race.


In the Republican Precinct 4 commissioner race, Walt Smith maintains the lead.

Edna R. Peterson remains ahead for the Democratic county clerk race.

With 26 out of 40 Hays County polling locations reporting, Ruben Becerra's lead in the Democratic county judge race remains steady with 68.41% of the vote while the remaining 31.59% of the vote is garnered by challenger Brandon Burleson.


In the race for Democratic Precinct 2 commissioner, Michelle Gutierrez Cohen leads with 41.02% of the vote. Linda Aguilar Hawkins and Richard "Pepe" Cronshey follow with 36.81% and 22.17% of the vote, respectively.

Mike Gonzalez extends his lead for Republican Precinct 2 commissioner with 61.33% of the vote while Andy Heentschke follows with the remaining 38.67% of the vote.

In the Republican Precinct 4 commissioner race, Walt Smith remains ahead of Joe Bateman with 56.98% of the vote. Bateman has 43.03% of the vote.

Elaine Cárdenas maintains her lead for Democratic county clerk with 74.15% of the vote, with the remaining 25.85% of the vote going to her opponent, Edna R. Peterson.

With 21 out of 40 Hays County polling locations reporting, Ruben Becerra has maintained his lead for Democratic county judge with 6,319 votes, or 68.6% of the vote, while Brandon Burleson sits back at 2,892 votes, or 31.4% of the vote.

Michelle Gutierrez Cohen maintains her lead for Democratic Precinct 2 commissioner with 40.67% of the vote, or 765 votes. Linda Aguilar Hawkins trails at 37.91% of the vote, or 713 votes. Richard "Pepe" Cronshey follows with 21.42% of the vote, or 403 votes.

Mike Gonzalez's lead narrowly inches forward with 61.06% of the vote, or 787 votes, for Republican Precinct 2 commissioner. Andy Hentschke follows with 38.94% of the vote, or 502 votes.


Walt Smith leads with 57.81% of the vote, or 1,839 votes for the Republican Precinct 4 commissioner. Joe Bateman follows with 42.19% of the vote, or 1,342 votes.

In the Democratic race for Hays County clerk, Elaine Cárdenas continues her lead with 74.15% of the vote, or 6,649 votes, over Edna R. Peterson with 25.85% of the vote, or 2,318 votes.

Early voting totals for the March 1 Democratic primary election for Hays County judge show incumbent Ruben Becerra in the lead with 69.71% of the vote, or 5,109 votes, over challenger Brandon Burleson, who has 30.29% of the vote, or 2,220 votes.

The Republican candidate for the Hays County judge seat, Mark Jones, is running unopposed.

In the Democratic race for Precinct 2 commissioner, Michelle Gutierrez Cohen leads with 40.36% of the vote, or 626 votes. Linda Aguilar Hawkins and Richard “Pepe” Cronshey follow with 589 and 336 votes, respectively.

In the Republican race for Precinct 2 commissioner, Mike Gonzalez leads with 60.67% of the vote at 614 votes. Andy Hentschke follows with 39.33% of the vote, or 398 votes.

For Hays County clerk, the Republican candidate Linda Duran runs unopposed.

In the Democratic race for Hays County clerk, Elaine Cárdenas leads with 74.42% of the vote, or 5,322 votes, over Edna R. Peterson with 25.58% of the vote, or 1,829 votes.

Winners of each party will be on the ballot in the November general election.
