The Kyle Public Library is hosting a Food for Fines food drive through May 15 with proceeds going to the Hays County Food Bank. The library will forgive $2 in late fees and fines for each donation of nonperishable food items.

Eligible items for donation include:
  • Soups and broths
  • Tomato products and sauces
  • Canned vegetables
  • Dried and canned beans
  • Whole grain pasta and rice
  • Whole grain/high fiber cereals
  • Natural peanut butter and jelly
  • Nuts and granola bars
  • Dried and canned fruit
The public library is located at 550 Scott St., Kyle; hours are Mondays-Thursdays from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Any fresh food donations will need to be dropped off at the Hays County Food Bank, located at 220 Herndon St., San Marcos; hours are Mondays-Thursdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m.-noon.
